New digs, New Year

Finally made the move North, though not as far North as I would’ve liked. Me and the Family are in Mickey Mouse’s backyard in Kissimmee. (Yes, still in Florida, but the mountains will still be there for a while, right?) We have pretty much settled in and really like the close-knit community here, with several things to do and see. (Besides the theme parks actually.) I’ve done the local Farmers Market with some pieces sold and met LOTS of people from here and around the world. Gotta love the Internet and word-of-mouth. My sincere Thanks to those who bought my art, and my wishes for you and yours for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Please contact me at jason@recycledmonkey.com if you would like to purchase already-made art or commission me to make a custom piece for you, a family-member or friend, or for a business. Cheers!

It’s been a little while, where have you been?

Season’s Greetings from the Monkey. Glad the Holidays are finally here and the weathers gotten good. It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year, right? Well I’ve just been SO busy making art and getting ready for the upcoming Winter season. The Internet is a GREAT thing, as I’ve had a pretty busy past few months creating different pieces for people and places all over the country. My latest big, commercial pieces are these for a new Pizza Hut Restaurant in Green Cove Springs, Florida. They wanted art that had the themes of Florida, Highway 17, travel, nostalgia, and of course it had to be bold and colorful as well. I think the 2 pieces fit the bill nicely.

I have also had the pleasure of having a few articles written about me and my art in some local magazines and websites. Many Thanks go out to them, and I just wanted to let them know I appreciate it. Way to support your local artists!

Finally, a reminder that you can still contact me for buying something for that someone special (yourself included too) for Christmas. Give me a shout and let me know what you like, and I will take care of your Recycled Art needs.

Peace and Love to EVERYONE!!

A couple of new pieces and my recent show

Hey everybody, it’s your old pal … The Recycled Monkey. Greetings from SUNNY Florida, and I must say if you don’t believe in Global Warming, just spend some time down here now. Most places up North have some real nice temps during the day and chilly at night, while we have it in the 90’s, and it’s not even that humid yet! I remember a time in my youth when it would still be pretty cool in May and only start to get HOT in July. Well, the times they are a changin’ I suppose. (Time to give some serious thought about moving up to Alaska or something.)

Anyway, here are a couple of new pieces that I’ve finished in the last month and the prices are as follows - The Butterfly is $450, Flying Eyeball is $350, and the Lobster and Love sign are $40 a piece, with shipping included in the good ole’ continental US of A. (If you’re in Alaska or Hawaii, or even International, just let me know.) I can also make other words such as Peace, Hope, Faith, etc. as well as names. Just send me an email and your idea, and the Monkey will abide. (Not just the Dude does that you know?)

Lastly, I just wanted to THANK Rob and the fine folks at the Butterfly Estates where I had a show last Friday night as part of the ArtWalk Nights. Although the turnout wasn’t huge, we all made the best of it, and I spoke with some really nice art lovers who had some great feedback about my art. Thanks again everyone and the Monkey sends all his love!!

Where’s the Monkey been lately?

I know it’s been a couple of months since my last entry, but all is well. I have just been creating art, hangin with family and friends, and just got back a little while ago from North Carolina. (By the way if you have never been … GO! Very beautiful and very artist friendly. Am considering moving up there in the future.)

I have a show coming up on Friday, May 1st at the Butterfly Estates in Downtown Fort Myers. It’s a stop on the locally famous ArtWalk Nights, and I’ll be there from 5pm to 9pm. Park your car, and get on the trolley to view fine art at the different stops in the River District/ Downtown Fort Myers area. SUPPORT your local artists and venues people!

A final note to everyone who reads this blog … Earth Day is tomorrow, April 22nd. Go outside and spend some time with your favorite people or by yourself. Plant a tree, pick up trash, switch to CFL bulbs, ride a bike, go kayaking, hike a trail, etc. Just do your little part to help. I know I am.

As always, Peace and Love from the Monkey!
